Why Band?

The Band program at a school can sometimes make or break a new student. It is a program where one can find others that are interested in the same things he or she is. On top of this, the student creates something that's amazing and, at moments, blissfully indescribable . But the things one learn from Band can help them through a lifetime.

 - Band is Time Management

In order for one to succeed in the band, he or she needs to practice on their own time. This can be difficult for some students, but it can teach them the skills needed to manage their time properly.

 - Band is Math.

It has been proven that the study of music can help students who are struggling in math. The basic counting of the notes and comprehending the time signatures are the same as basic arithmetic and ratios.

 - Band is Physical Fitness

Ask any drummer or tuba player: Marching with those big instruments is one heck of a work out! If you want to shed a few pounds, march for two miles and see what happens.

 - Band is Fun

Yeah, the band members work hard at what they do, but they have fun too! Sometimes they dance during Pep Band:

So, next time you ask yourself "Why Band?", consider the possibilities.
